Locally Owned Burger Restaurant Continues to Expand

Mikey's Burgers and Fries has been in Brighton for more than a year.

The locally owned and operated two-restaurant chain of Mikey’s Burgers and Fries, with locations in Howell and Brighton, will soon be opening a third location in Hartland.

Longtime friends and Howell natives, Big Mike and Little Mike – as they are known around town- opened the original Howell location three years ago and expanded into Brighton more than a year ago.

Growing up in the area, co-owner Mike Donn said that expanding into the neighboring communities was a natural choice.

“Mike and are both local, we live in Howell and our kids go to school there,” he said. “It was just the next step.”

The Brighton restaurant is located at 9912 E Grand River Ave, next door to Just Baked, and the owner's say the local burger place prides itself on custom-ordered burgers made just the way you like it and hand cut French fries.

With the Mikey Burger as the most popular menu item, Donn says the restaurants original recipe comes for the two Mike’s years of experience.

“(Big) Mike grew up with it and I spent years working in a national chain, so between the two of us we knew we could do it better,” he said.

Construction for the third location has already begun in Hartland.
