MI Construction Worker Killed In Trench Collapse: Sheriff

The incident comes after two other trench collapses in Oakland County left two workers injured.

HANDY TOWNSHIP, MI — A 23-year-old construction worker died Wednesday after a trench collapsed on him in Livingston County, according to sheriff's officials.

The incident happened at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at a construction site near Grand River Avenue and Nicholson Road in Handy Township, officials said.

The workers were installing underground tanks at the site when the trench collapsed, trapping the 23-year-old worker inside, officials said.

Rescue crews and other workers were able to free the man, but he died at the scene despite life-saving measures, officials said.

Officials did not identify the man or the company involved.
