Someone You Should Know: Margaret Vergith

Editor's Note: When she's not promoting events like Saturday's Stroll Around Town, during which she led the parade dressed as Winnie the Pooh, Margaret "Marge" Vergith is busy getting the word out about all of Brighton District Library's wonderful programs and services. A 20-year Brighton resident, Vergith is mom to a 19-year-old sophomore at her alma mater MSU ("Go green and white!") and a nine-year-old fourth grader at . Title: Program Specialist and Media Relations Coordinator

What you do: Work at the Brighton District Library where I run programs for children, help patrons with their library needs, and promote the library’s programs and events.

Mission statement: To provide a broad range of library services and materials that meet the educational, informational, recreational and cultural needs of all residents of the Brighton District Library.

Key to success: Be positive and set goals for yourself, even if they’re small. Small achievements can lead to big ones.

A favorite book and why: Working at a library is a little bit like working in a candy shop. The choices are so many and so good. I recently finished Pope Joan by Donna Woolfolk Cross. The story is set during the Dark Ages and portrays an intelligent courageous young woman who despite obstacles and oppression goes on to lead an extraordinary life.  

Favorite Brighton spot: The Farmers Market

In my next life I want to come back as: An artist with loads of talent!
