'Stroll Around Town' Benefits Early Childhood Programs at BDL

The invites the public to take part in the first annual Stroll Around Town, at the library on Saturday, May 14, at 9 a.m. This family-friendly event is a FUN-Raising walk about kid, for kids, to benefit the library’s early childhood programs.

Bring out the strollers and wagons and invite family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers to walk with you or to sponsor you. Individual donations are $10 per person and $20 per family. You may join the walking fun without donating; however every dollar helps. 

"We encourage people of all ages to join us as we Stroll Around Town and have fun while raising money for the Brighton District Library's early childhood programs and activities" said Carla Sharp, head of youth services for BDL.

Check-in begins at 9 a.m. on May 14 at the BDL, rain or shine. Dress in your favorite costume or as a storybook character. Bring your stroller or wagon decorated and join the fun. Sorry no dogs or bikes.

Between 9–9:45 a.m., kids will enjoy a variety of activities from upbeat musical fun to sidewalk chalk art. Don’t miss the free stickers, balloons and coupons. Library T-shirts may be purchased for $5 per person while supplies last.

At 9:45 a.m., lace up your walking shoes because Stroll Around Town officially begins. The two-mile course starts at the BDL and will follow the sidewalk along Grand River past event sponsor to the boardwalk and will finish at the library.
