• Federal funding helps move Brooklyn Safe Routes to School trail toward construction (wilx.com) — A federally backed Safe Routes to School trail is finally moving toward construction in Brooklyn, creating a 3.1‑mile nonmotorized path between Columbia Elementary and Columbia High School. With more than $1.8 million in combined federal and state funding, work will start in early 2027, bringing tree removal, Main Street construction, and a safer way for local students to walk or bike between campuses.
