šŸ“° News we're reading

• ā€˜Strong' turnout for 175th county fair despite early weather, sparse concert crowd (wilcoxnewspapers.com) — Centreville just wrapped up the 175th St. Joseph County Grange Fair with what organizers call a strong overall turnout, despite rain and a lightly attended headline concert. Heritage Hall’s focus on Centreville and Nottawa, packed rodeo and tractor-pull crowds, and busy 4-H and community areas highlighted a week that fair leaders say reinforced local traditions and community support.

• St. Joseph River hydro reservoir will remain lowered more than a year (mlive.com) — Residents near Centreville should expect the Sturgis Dam reservoir on the St. Joseph River to stay three feet lower until at least April 2028 while long-delayed safety repairs are planned and completed. The drawdown, just north of Centreville, could increase erosion risks, has already prompted mussel relocations, and will be closely monitored by federal and state agencies over the next two years.
