All incidents occurred in late August at locations around the city and remain under investigation or prosecution.
• St. Louis Center Modernizes Memory Care for Aging Residents (thesuntimesnews.com) — St. Louis Center in Chelsea is receiving $2 million in state funding to modernize its memory care wing, adding dedicated dementia spaces, a multisensory therapy room, and expanded clinical areas. The long-time residential community for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities aims to let aging residents remain in a familiar, home-like environment while their care needs increase, including hospice and end-of-life support.
• Washtenaw First Age-Friendly County In Michigan (thesuntimesnews.com) — Chelsea is highlighted as one of Washtenaw County's dementia-friendly communities, part of a broader push that also made the county Michigan's first age-friendly county in the AARP network. Local leaders and advocates are working with businesses and organizations to better support residents with memory challenges, aiming to keep older adults safely engaged in their homes and neighborhoods longer.
