• Chelsea city manager Elle Cole requests public hearing on firing (mlive.com) — Chelsea's city manager, Elle Cole, has requested a public hearing before city council finalizes her firing, meaning residents will likely get a closer look at the process in the coming weeks. She remains on paid leave while council weighs allegations and considers long-term leadership, amid broader concerns about frequent turnover in Chelsea's top administrative job.
• More than $2 million in grants boost state's agricultural production (ourmidland.com) — Chelsea's Lakehouse Bakery is receiving a $90,537 state grant aimed at boosting value-added food production and local supply chains, part of $2.3 million awarded statewide. This funding is intended to help the bakery grow, create or support jobs, and expand access to Michigan-made foods. Other farms and processors across Michigan are also sharing in the new agricultural investment.
• Chelsea bank's first female president honored with statewide award (mlive.com) — Chelsea residents may be glad to know Chelsea State Bank CEO Joanne Rau, the bank's first female president, is being honored with a top statewide community banking award. Under her leadership, the bank stayed accessible during the pandemic, expanded services, and she's remained deeply involved with Chelsea schools and the 5 Healthy Towns Foundation.
