Main Street Park Alliance led Chelsea non-profits in government grant revenue for 2024 (annarbortimes.com) — Nonprofits based in Chelsea led by Main Street Park Alliance and the Chelsea Senior Citizens Activities Center, saw major increases in government grant funding in 2024, according to IRS filings. The data show how much local organizations rely on public grants and contributions, and how their assets and revenues have recently grown compared with previous years.
   

2. Wild Week 2 shakes up MLive's Top 25 Michigan high school football rankings (mlive.com) — Chelsea's football team is off to a 2-0 start and holds the No. 10 spot in MLive's statewide Top 25 after a big 56-27 win over Jackson. The Bulldogs now head to Adrian for a key Week 3 matchup, while other Michigan powers jostle for position after several upsets.
   

3. Things to do in Metro Detroit Sept. 11 and beyond (theoaklandpress.com) — Metro Detroit's busy entertainment calendar includes a Chelsea highlight: jam band Desmond Jones plays JD's Stage Bistro on South Main Street with tickets just over $23. You'll also find dozens of concerts, comedy shows, theater productions, and art events across Ann Arbor, Detroit, and nearby suburbs running through fall.
   

4. More than $2 million in grants boost state's agricultural production (ourmidland.com) — A Chelsea favorite, The Lakehouse Bakery, has been awarded a $90,537 state grant to expand its value‑added food operations, part of $2.3 million awarded statewide. The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development says these grants aim to grow jobs, strengthen local food systems, and increase access to Michigan‑grown products in communities like Chelsea.
   

5. Dexter Firefighters Respond to the Inverness Tavern (thesuntimesnews.com) — Fire crews, including the Chelsea Area Fire Authority, helped Dexter firefighters quickly control a small rooftop fire at the Inverness Tavern after smoke was detected inside. No one was injured, damage was limited to a small roof section, and officials say the incident underscores the importance of working smoke alarms and calling the fire department at the first sign of trouble.
