Bush, Olsen Elected to Chelsea Schools Board of Education
Laura Bush received 3,830 votes and Steve Olsen received 3,316 votes in the race for school board trustee on Nov. 6.
CHELSEA — With all 12 precincts reporting Tuesday, incumbent Steve Olsen will be returning to the Chelsea Board of Education along with newcomer Laura Bush for a four-year term.
Bush received the most votes, collecting 3,830 (31.29 percent of the vote), while Olsen received 3,316 votes (27.09 percent). The candidates defeated Dana Emmert and Kathy Keinath for their seats on the board.
Emmert received 2,710 votes (22.14 percent) and Keinath earned 2,332 votes (19.05 percent). The final votes were confirmed just prior to midnight Tuesday.

"I’m excited and looking forward to working with the school board,” Bush told Heritage Newspapers on Tuesday night.
Bush won the majority vote in nine of the 12 precincts in the area. She was second to Olsen in the other three precincts.

There were also 54 write-in candidates.
A total of 1,676 ballots were counted in the Chelsea School Board election.
