Chelsea Man Arrested on Domestic Violence, Assault by Strangulation Charges

A 22-year-old Chelsea man was arrested about 1:30 a.m. Thursday after police were called to the 500 block of North Main Street to respond to a domestic violence complaint, according to a news release from the Chelsea Police Department.
Upon arrival, the officers met with the victim, who alleged that her boyfriend had hit her and grabbed her by the throat, restricting her airway.
Officers located the man inside the residence and placed him under arrest. After booking, he was transported to the Washtenaw County Jail pending arraignment.

The Washtenaw County Prosecutor authorized a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence as well as a felony count of assault by strangulation.

A 41-year-old Kansas City, KS man was arrested on an Oakland County civil warrant at 1:46 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, in the 1600 block of South Main Street. While on routine patrol, police reportedly checked on a suspicious person/vehicle and discovered the warrant. The subject was arrested and transported to a meeting place, where he was turned over to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department.
At 9:38 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, police responded to the 1200 block of South Main Street in reference to an embezzlement complaint. Upon arrival, officers met with the complainants, who had the suspect, a 26-year-old Chelsea man in their office. The complainants said they had video footage of an employee working the night shift when he allegedly removed an item from the store shelves and placed it in his pocket without paying for it. The suspect was released pending a warrant review and authorization by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office.Get more local news delivered straight to your inbox.
