Woman Charged with Second-Offense Domestic Assault: Chelsea Police Blotter

A case involving an allegation of shoplifting also remains open, according to information released this week by the Chelsea Police Department.

A 38-year-old Chelsea woman was taken into custody and arrested for second-offense domestic assault in connection with a Nov. 19 incident in the 500 block of North Main Street.

Chelsea police said in a new release the suspect and her boyfriend, 41, who both live at the address, had been separated by the time authorities arrived about 4:50 a.m. The assault allegedly occurred after an argument.

Police transported the suspect to the Chelsea Police Department, where she was processed, and then to the Washtenaw County Jail. The case was submitted to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office on Nov. 21 and a charge of domestic assault, second offense, was authorized

Police also responded to a shoplifting complaint at 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 in the 1200 block of South Main Street. A witness said that she observed a 42-year-old Manchester woman take multiple items from her cart and take them into the restroom. When the suspect exited the restroom, she had none of the items in her hands, according to the release.

The witness reportedly confronted the suspect and she was taken to the store manager’s office. When police arrived, she allegedly admitted to the crime. The case remains open pending warrant authorization and a review by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office.
