2 Clawson Wrestlers Go to State Finals for 1st Time
Both wrestlers were eliminated early, but qualifying for state finals is an accomplishment in itself.
AUBURN HILLS – Clawson wrestlers Jason Palmer and Deonte Hill were both eliminated early from the MHSAA individual wrestling finals at The Palace of Auburn Hills over the weekend.
Jason Palmer (32-15), a senior who wrestled at 119 pounds, lost to Dustin Noreyko of Roscommon, of the tournament on Thursday. On Friday in the consolation round, he lost on a 6-3 decision to Nate Manthei of Whitehall.
Senior Deonte Hill, who wrestled at 171 pounds, lost to Cory Livingston of Otsego by fall at 3:01 on Thursday, then to Mason Geno of Essexville Garber by major decision, 11-1, in Friday morning's consolation round.

"There were jitters," Clawson coach Keil Jorgensen said after Thursday's bouts. "It's kind of an eye-opening experience."
