Second graders at Walton Charter Academy enjoyed summer activities a little early this year at the school’s first Math Camp-In! During the evening filled with camping activities centered around the math curriculum, students created s’mores to discuss fractions, created camp scenes with stickers to make word problems, jumped ‘frogs’ to measure distance and create a graph of their data, and solved questions about sleeping bags using their reasoning skills. Tired from all the math fun, students curled up in their sleeping bags to enjoy a movie, snacks, and the company of their fellow classmates, underneath the sky of the Walton gym.
