Clawson Bowls Over Lincoln for First MAC Divison Win

45-0 win pushes Trojans to 2-0.

Accurate passing attacks combined with a stingy defense were the ingredients for Clawson's second win of the season Thursday night. The 45-0 road win for the varsity football team over Lincoln puts its record at 2-0 and 1-0 in MAC Bronze divisional play.

Head Coach Jim Sparks said his team put an "all out effort" into the game. And with a small roster of only 25 players just about everyone contributed.

"You can't complain when you get a win like that," he said. "We had seven guys with rushing yardage."

Offensively, the Trojans amassed 277 yards on 33 carries including five rushing touchdowns. Quarterback Blake Blue was 11-15 passing for 143 yards and one touchdown pass as well as one rushing touchdown.

"Senior Deonte Hill had 79 yards on seven carries and DeShawn Gilbert was our leading receiver," Sparks said. "He had six receptions for 70 yards."

Sophomore kicker Olivia Paquette was 6-6 on PATs and had a 22-yard field goal as well.

The Clawson defense allowed Lincoln 65 yards of total offense and only two first downs. The impressive effort also included an interception by senior Tavonte Bezue.

Hill led the defense with 10 tackles from his linebacker position. Up next for the Trojans is a MAC division home game next Friday against New Haven.
