Clawson Patch Whiz Kids: Kenwood Students Create Tall Tales

Fourth- and fifth-graders in Matt Provost's class are creating videos.

  • Key to awesomeness: The tales of John Henry, Johnny Appleseed and others have been revised and revived by fourth- and fifth-grade students in Matt Provost's class at . The story creators are putting their tales on video and learning how to write scripts and edit video. Students are working with tall-tale characters such as Johnny Appleseed and creating their own characters, including Alexis Whitfield, aka Fancy Pants Lex, World's Greatest Dancer; Amy Bunyan, who shaped Michigan's Lower Peninsula like a mitten; and Hatchet Jack, the world's fastest lumberjack, who leveled the Plains. Provost also created a presentation for the school board about the project. The students created more than 90 tall tales in the education segment.
