A dispatcher initially expressed some interest in adopting the dark-snouted, yellow dog after the resident dropped it by the Ferndale Police Department, but then changed his mind.
Two officers and a police lieutenant apparently didn’t think he’d made the right so decision. So, while on duty, one of the officers drove the dog to a home in Southfield where they thought the dispatcher was staying, and tied the dog to the front door.

The problem – one of them, anyway – was that the officer had the wrong house.
The other problem was that an alert neighbor, concerned a burglary was in progress, called Southfield police.
Wilson said the prank tied up police resources and said there”s “no excuse whatsoever” for their conduct.
Meanwhile, the dog still needs a home and is being held at a pound in Southfield. Authorities are hopeful the dog’s owner will step forward.
