Hour by Hour Weather: Hazardous Ice and Snow Storms Across the State
Weekend cold breaks records, more hazardous weather to come this week.
Riding the tail of the record cold temperatures this weekend, residents are expected to receive another blast of frigid weather throughout the week. The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather warning throughout the state, expecting slippery travel conditions throughout the night, high speed winds, snow showers expected into Wednesday night and another round of snow developing for Friday afternoon.
Wind chill values throughout the state could be hazardous throughout the week, plunging temperatures as low as 20 below zero for hours at a time.
On Feb 15 and 16, the National Weather Service reported that Detroit and Flint County or broke the record for lowest recorded temperature. Detroit tied the 1904 record with a observed low of -9 F. Flint County beat both the 19643 and the 1963 records, observing a low of -17 F on Feb 15 and -21 F on Feb 16.

Hour by Hour Forecast:
- 11 a.m. Wind are expected to pick up across the state, with gusts measuring from 6 to 15 mph. Western county’s are expected to see light flurries.
- 12 p.m. Winds continue to increase in speed. Wind chill temperatures feel like -10 F.
- 1 – 2 p.m. Wind speeds remain steady at 15 mph with the chance of snow flurries in the east.
- 3 – 4 p.m. Increase cloud coverage and wind bring in fresh snow and ice showers. Temperatures remain steady at 20 F but wind chill feels like 5 F.
- 5 – 6 p.m. Winds remain steady at 13 mph with the chance of a few snow showers.
- 7 – 8 p.m. Steady snow showers and ice are likely to fall as winds slow to between 6 – 10 mph.
- 9 – 10 p.m. Wind speeds remain steady at 10 mph with temperatures in the mid to low teens.
- 11 p.m. Chances of additional snow flurries and snow showers increases, with temperatures in the single digits.
- 12 a.m. Temperatures remain in single digits with winds slowing to 8 – 6 mph. Western counties see an increased chance in snow showers.
