Maple Arcade to Open Doors at New Clawson Location Saturday

The artists market and gallery celebrates its grand opening this weekend.

A new business is ready to call Clawson its home.

After months of preparation, the Maple Arcade will officially welcome the public into its new 14 Mile Road space Saturday.

This juried artists market and gallery will showcase various pieces from Michigan artists, including primary operator and artist-in-residence, Jeffrey Bowman.

Bowman and his wife Emily, originally from Pensacola, Florida, decided to re-locate and move to Clawson this past year, and say they couldn't be happier with their decision to have both their new home and new business in the city.

"When we moved to Clawson this May, we absolutely fell in love with the community and knew immediately that we wanted to plant our roots here," said Emily. "The small-town charm, walk-able downtown and engaged community made opening Maple Arcade here a no-brainer."

Operating a gallery has always been a dream for the Bowmans. Jeffrey, a self-taught artist and musician has exhibited his artwork along the Gulf Coast for years.

"I'm attracted to the way I can trick my brain into taking randomness and putting it on a flat surface and give the illusion of it being something that it’s not," said Jeffrey, an abstract painter. "To me, art is my magic in a universe full of illusions and possibilities."

Pieces at Maple Arcade range from fine arts to handmade crafts and are available for purchase. Artists looking to showcase their work in the space are always welcome.

The gallery, located at 38 E. 14 Mile Road, will celebrate its official grand opening Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., followed by a reception from 6-9 p.m. which will include a tour of the space and light refreshments.

Maple Arcade will tentatively hold regular hours from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Tuesdays-Sundays. For more information, visit maplearcade.com.
