Police Officer Held in Alleged Pistol Whipping of Estranged Wife's Friend

The officer has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation against him.

An off-duty Detroit police officer has been suspended with pay and was taken into custody by the Michigan State Police after he allegedly pistol whipped a man who was with his estranged wife in Ferndale Tuesday.

The officer’s name hasn’t been released, The Detroit News reports

Detroit Police Sgt. Michael Woody said the officer’s suspension will remain in effect until the investigation is concluded.
