Report: Homeless Man Stole Ambulance to Get to Strip Club
Police tracked a cell phone left inside the ambulance and arrested the suspect in Sterling Heights.

A 51-year-old homeless man from Pontiac is expected to face auto theft charges after he allegedly stole an ambulance parked outside a local hospital so he could go to a topless bar.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that the Star EMS ambulance was stolen outside McLaren Oakland Hospital’s emergency room entrance about 11 p.m. Sunday.
The keys were in the ignition and the ambulance was running as medical personnel wheeled a patient into the emergency room on a gurney. Investigators used a cell phone in the ambulance to track its whereabouts, and found it in Sterling Heights.

The man, who hasn’t been identified, told the driver he wanted to get to The Booby Trap Bar on Eight Mile, The Detroit News reports. The newspaper said the phone number to that establishment has been disconnected, but the address matches that of another strip club, the King of Diamonds.
The ambulance was turned back to Star EMS, and the suspect was taken to the Oakland County Jail pending arraignment.
