The goat, which had been gutted and burned, was discovered in a lot near the Russell Industrial building and a vacant restaurant about 11:30 p.m. Monday, MLive reports. Two white circles had been drawn in white powder around the carcass, fueling worries that the animal was sacrificed in a ritual. A bottle of lighter fluid was found discarded by the animal.
“It had a rope by the damn throat and there were two circles,” a security guard for the industrial property told MLive. “That’s some witchcraft stuff.”

“It seems so bizarre,” Vilay Menorath, who manages the Russell Industrial building, told WJBK, Channel 2, after she was called to the scene by a security guard who made the discovery.
It was “very evil to want to burn an animal and leave it like that,” she said.
Police didn’t immediately investigate the discovery of the goat, which occurred early Monday morning. By 11:30 p.m. Monday, the goat remained in the overgrown parking lot.
WJBK reported the security guards who found the goal called 911, the Michigan Humane Society and Detroit Animal control, but got no response. After WJBK reported from the scene at 10:30 p.m. and called police directly, officers came out to photograph the scene and collect evidence.
