Two Michigan Farmers Markets Among 8 'Must Visit' Markets in U.S.

The Royal Oak Farmers Market and Detroit's Eastern Market were among the markets cited by Country Living Magazine.

The Royal Oak Farmers Market is one of two from Michigan on Country Living magazine’s List of “8 Must-Visit Historic Food Markets Across America.”

The Royal Oak Farmers Market, located in the Civic Center at 11 Mile Road and Troy Street, opened as a truck market in 1925 as a partnership between the then-new city of Royal Oak and Oakland County.

Produce, eggs and bread are offered on Saturdays, but on Fridays and Sundays, antiques and collectibles are also on the list.

Also on the must-visit list is the six-block Detroit Eastern Market, which is open every Saturday and on Tuesdays during the summer.

Farmers markets in Indiana, Ohio (two), Pennsylvania (two) and West Virginia also made the list.
