Chippewa Valley Band to Take the Stage for Annual Holiday Concert Thursday

The musical event is set to be held Dec. 6. inside the main campus auditorium.

There's nothing like some good ol' seasonal music to put even the meanest Grinch in the holiday spirit.

Come relax to the sounds of Chippewa Valley High School's three concert bands and wind ensemble that will be performing inside the school's auditorium Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. during the annual Holiday Band Concert.

"It’s an evening of great entertainment and it’s free!" said Timothy Hoey, CVHS Director of Bands.

Students from grades 9-12 make up the instrumental groups, which are all ability-based. Concert Band is the basic level group, Symphonic Band is intermediate and Wind Ensemble is advanced. Jazz Ensemble is made up mostly of Wind Ensemble members.

The bands will perform holiday favorites including “The Four Seasons” by Vivaldi, “Sleepers Wake” by Bach and “Carmina Burana” by Orff among others. The concert concludes with “Sleigh Ride” by Leroy Anderson.

The show, which Hoey calls an "annual holiday tradition", is attended by roughly 500 people every year.

While there is no admission fee, audience members are asked to bring a non-perishable food item for a special holiday donation program.

As a special bonus this year, a 16 GB iPad will be raffled off the night of the event. Tickets to participate in the drawing are just $10. Proceeds will directly support the band program.

Furthermore, the Band Boosters are asking attendees to consider donating a baked good for the night's concessions table. If you are able to bring a sweet along, please e-mail Lisa Kutskill at lkutskill@gmail.com.
