Clinton Twp. Man Threatens To Shoot Up Macomb Co. McDonald's: Sheriff

The man threatened to shoot up the restaurant after employees refused to tell him if his ex-girlfriend was there​, officials said.

RICHMOND, MI — A Clinton Township man is in trouble after police said he threatened to shoot up a Macomb County McDonald's on Wednesday after employees refused to tell him if his ex-girlfriend was there, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.

Kyle Woodard, 21, was charged with threat of terrorism, using a computer to commit a crime and malicious use of a telecommunications device. The threat of terrorism charge is a 20-year felony, the computer charge is a 10-year felony and the telecommunications charge is a six-month misdemeanor.

Woodard was placed in jail with a $500,000 bond. If he is released, he cannot go near his ex-girlfriend or any McDonald’s restaurant, and must wear a GPS tether, officials said.

"Making a threat to shoot up a restaurant is a serious crime. We will not hesitate to charge the 20-year felony for this type of behavior," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said.

Officials said Woodard called the McDonald’s restaurant in Richmond on Wednesday to see if his ex-girlfriend was there. The woman is an employee at the restaurant, officials said.

When the employees refused to tell him if she was working inside the restaurant, Woodard threatened to shoot her and everyone inside the restaurant, officials said.
