Detroit-Area HS Prom Canceled After 'Planned School Attack' Tip
There were no details about a possible suspect.
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A shooting threat turned what was supposed to be a fun Tuesday night for some Macomb County high schoolers into a disappointment.
Students at Clintondale High School were planning to attend the school's prom at the Blossom Health Inn in St. Clair Shores Tuesday evening when the threat came in roughly an hour before the event started.
Clintondale Community Schools' interim Superintendent Kevin Knoblock described the tip as a "planned school attack." It was submitted through the OK2SAY hotline and alerted officials that a student may be bringing a firearm to prom.

"We carefully considered every option, fully aware of the disappointment this decision would cause for students and families," Knoblock said. "However, we also recognized the serious potential risk involved and our responsibility to protect everyone attending the event."
School officials ultimately canceled the prom as police investigate the matter.
