Fugitive Escapes from Clinton and Marysville Officers, Runs into Wooded Area

This is the second time this man has fled from police.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Two police departments are searching for a fugitive who escaped from officers and ran into a wooded area on Sept. 24.

The suspect fled from cops during a prisoner exchange, when Clinton Township officers delivered him to Marysville Police officers.

At about 12:15 p.m., Clinton Township officers responded to a call regarding a suspicious person in the area of 15 Mile and Groesbeck, police said.

Officers then located the man and performed a criminal check on him that revealed an outstanding warrant for him out of St. Clair County.

Police transported the male to the area of I-94 and 26 Mile Road to turn him over to the Marysville Police Department, police said.

When the prisoner exchange happened, the prisoner managed to break free from Clinton and Marysville officers and escaped into a wooded area.

“He basically turned around and bolted from the officers into a wooded area,” Wade told Macomb Daily. “A canine and a helicopter were called out to assist in the search, but they did not locate him.”

Officers allegedly did not cuff the suspect because he has a large cast on one arm and was being cooperative with the police, Macomb Daily reports.

Marysville police Sgt. Edward Gerrow told Macomb Daily that this was the second time this suspect has run away from police.

"He did it before with St. Clair County. He’s pretty slippery. He has a history of getting a little violent with police,” Gerrow said.

Gerrow said in both incidents, the suspect gave police his brother's name, who has an outstanding warrant for his arrest.

Officers from several agencies searched the area and couldn't locate the man.

Police will not release the suspect's name or photograph. They described him as a male in his 20s with a large cast on one arm.

An investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information on this incident they are asked to call Captain Bruce Wade of the Clinton Township Police Department at 586-493- 7931.
