<div>OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A 5-year-old Sterling Heights girl died in a drowning at an athletic club in Oakland County on Friday night.</div><div><br /></div><div>Emergency personnel were called to the swimming pool at the Deer Lake Athletic Club in the 600 block of White Lake Road in Independence Township at about 7:30 p.m.</div><div><br /></div><div>Authorities are now investigating the circumstances that led to the girl's death and drowning, according to a news release from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.</div>  <p>The name of the girl has not been released. </p>
