Lenawee County Health Department Working On Preparedness And Response Planning For Coronavirus

The Lenawee County Health Department has been diligently working on preparedness and response planning for the COVID-19 Novel Coronavirus and is carefully monitoring the situation at a local level. The Lenawee County Health Department would like to reassure the public that we are communicating with partners such as healthcare providers and emergency management, as well as participating in meetings and conference calls with state and national officials.

Michigan, including Lenawee County, has no reported cases at this time. As of 3/10/2020, the CDC is reporting at least 647 confirmed cases nationwide. It is important to seek accurate information from credible sources. Information around this outbreak is changing rapidly. The latest information, including travel advisories, is available at Michigan.gov/Coronavirus and CDC.gov/Coronavirus.

To prevent the spread of viruses such as the flu, common cold and coronavirus:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water. If not available, use hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing; throw away the used tissue in the trash
• Avoid contact with people who are sick. If you are sick, stay home; avoid contact with others. Older adults and/or those with serious chronic medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, or lung disease, should avoid crowds and non-essential travel such as airplane trips and cruise ship travel.
