Making the most out of a hill of beans

A year already!!!

My Father, in my community girls or boys for that matter grow up in single parent homes.  I too grew up with my mother and grandmother, however my father was always there.  When I wanted to date, drop out of school in the eight grade :(   and making decision that would have an everlasting impact on my life.

My dad grew up in the time when trying to be a man was hard for African American men.  He went to Vietnam came home and was sadden by what he fought and came home for.  He got caught up in the scene of Marvin Gaye "What's Going On",  tried to hide from his problems with all the wrong things that was available to him.  What is so weird, jobs were not available but drugs and trouble was available everywhere.

Life was out of control and then comes the girl that he met after coming home from war, telling him that she was eighteen but fifteen going on sixteen telling him "you are about to be a dad".  This sounds like a story you can hear everyday, but believe me it is has a totally different outcome. One you would least expect.  I am blogging for therapy and no one will probably even see this but in the next week I want to share the story, well at least some of the story of my father who many knew in Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne county.

He was not a politician, entertainer, or a local hero.  He was my father much like most but one with many turns in life.
