Intruder Fires at Clinton Township Man's Gun at Him When He Comes Home for Lunch: Police

Suspect fires homeowner's gun at him, is still in yard when police arrive.

(Originally published Oct. 11, 2016) CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — An intruder broke into a Clinton Township home during the day Monday, stole a gun and fired shots at the homeowner who surprised him when he came home for lunch. The intruder was still on the property when police arrived and took him into custody.

“I’ve lived here for the past year and a half,” John Broderick told The Macomb Daily. “I thought it was the best place to be, the safest area around here. I never dreamed I would encounter something like this.”

When Clinton Township police officers arrived, they found the suspect in the back yard, according to Detective Capt. Richard Maierle. The suspect refused to cooperate with the officers, who then deployed a Taser to subdue him then took him into custody.
