Motorcyclist Dead in Crash with Police Car Attempting Stop
The Michigan State Police has taken control of the investigation of crash in which a 20-year-old St. Clair Shores man died.

A 20-year-old man is dead after his motorcycle crashed into a St. Clair Shores police car operated by an officer who was attempting to make a traffic stop about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
The accident occurred on Eight Mile Road east of Beaconsfield as the officer was attempting the traffic stop, St. Clair Shores Police Chief Todd Woodcox said in a statement.

The motorcyclist, who hasn’t been named, was pronounced dead at 10:11 p.m. at a local hospital.
It’s unclear if the police cruiser hit the motorcycle, or if the motorcycle hit the car. Woodcox said it was a “tragic accident” and “not the result of a police pursuit.”

He said the city grieves for the victim’s family and promised “a full and complete investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.”
The Michigan State Police has taken control of the investigation, and the patrolman involved has been placed on administrative leave under department policy.
