Anthony D’Agunanno, also known as The Mad Hatter, is a blues, rock and acoustic artist from Southgate, Michigan. He plays a wide spectrum of instruments, including the guitar, piano, ukulele, mandolin, bass, harmonica and drums. D’Agunanno began playing music when he was in 8th grade. He was inspired when he heard Seven Nation Army by the White Stripes playing on the radio. Upon learning the two person band was from Detroit, D’Agunanno stated, “something inside of me clicked and my path was chosen to make music.”
D’Agunanno currently has one album out with 12 songs. The Mad Hatter, D’Agunanno’s solo band, is based on what D’Agunanno calls “duality.” “Everyone has good and bad in them, just depends on what face you want people to see,” D’Agunanno wrote. He titled the album House and Home claiming, “House meaning a place that you are unfamiliar with, can only look in from the outside. And then Home is a place where you lay your head at night.”
D’Agunanno puts a lot of emotion and thought into his music and uses it as a tool to connect. For him, creating music out of thin air is sublime.
