Pastie-Mobile Rolls in Business for Clinton Township Bakery

What's up with the Marquee Marque Pasties race car? Patch stopped by and found out.

Possibly the best way to advertise your business? Put it on wheels.

According to Amy Yearkey, her pastie-adorned white Monte Carlo has brought in lots of new customers for her dad Mark’s business, Marquee Marque Pasties.

“I needed it to sit somewhere for a while,” Yearkey explained, “so we figured it’d be great advertising and figured—why not make it a race car?”

It helps that Mark Yearkey also owns a sign-making business, so he was able to deck out the car himself.

But the “pasties” vanity plate was all Amy’s doing.

“He had tried before (to get the plate),” she said of her father, who found that someone had already snagged it. “But when we got the car done, I jumped on it.”

The car normally sits in the west corner of Campus Plaza, Yearkey said, “because there’s not much visibility from that direction” of Garfield Road for the business.

But when the sixth-generation pasty maker isn’t cooking up meat and fruit-filled pies, she’s now driving the “Pastie-mobile” around town. And as it turns out, there’s nothing like seeing a pastie-advertising car to get your stomach grumbling.

“It’s brought in quite a few customers,” she said.

Marquee Marque is located at 43261 Garfield Rd., with a second location in Sterling Heights at 43568 Van Dyke Ave.
