People, Pets Escape Clinton Township Fire

A Sunday afternoon fire damaged a Clinton Township home, but no injuries were reported.

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — Two people and eight pets made it out of a Clinton Township home safely after a fire broke out Sunday afternoon. The fire started in a second floor bedroom of the home, located near Harper Avenue and 15 Mile Road. While the exact cause is still under investigation, Clinton Township Fire Department officials suspect the fire was electrical, the Macomb Daily reported.

“Everyone got out safely, but there was some concern about the family pets,” said Fire Marshal Mike Bobzin. “But they’ve all been recovered.”
"The homeowner said the brood included four cats, three dogs and kitten. “Some of the cats are at the vets being checked out, but they’re all OK,” said the homeowner, who declined to comment further as he was still shook up by the incident."
