A cousin discovered the 45-year-old victim, who used a wheelchair, on Christmas Day, Clinton Township police said.

(Originally posted on Dec. 28, 2016) CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI — A 17-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of her mother, who was found dead Sunday in her apartment, Clinton Township police said in a news release. The teen was apprehended early Monday but hadn't been charged in the death of the 45-year-old woman, whose body was found at 9:55 p.m. Sunday at the Washington Place apartments on Washington Square, police said.
The deceased woman was identified as Sonia Riang, the Detroit Free Press reported.
A cousin of the victim, who lives in the same apartment complex on Garfield Road, found her body on the bedroom floor and noticed that Riang's daughter was missing. Five other people live in the apartment, but none of the residents was home when the attack occurred.

Investigators said Riang, who used a wheelchair, hadn’t been seen since noon Sunday. Police said the daughter once stabbed her brother, though his injuries weren’t life-threatening.
An autopsy was planned for Tuesday by the Macomb County Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of her death.
