Coldwater Fire Marshall to retire from CFD after 23 years of service (wtvbam.com) — Coldwater residents will soon see a change in fire leadership as longtime Fire Marshall Steve Trall retires next week after 23 years of service. He plans to spend his final days on the job visiting Coldwater schools for fire safety presentations, while 19-year fire service veteran Jackie Supianoski prepares to step into the Fire Marshall role.
2. Monroe Street asphalt mural to be unveiled Friday (wtvbam.com) — Downtown Coldwater drivers should be aware that part of South Monroe Street between U.S. 12 and West Pearl is closed for a new asphalt mural that will debut Friday before Hobtober Fest. The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority–backed project features large, colorful local fish and is designed to brighten the area for at least four years.
3. Man accused of biting co-worker's face during fight at Michigan Burger King (mlive.com) — A violent altercation between two employees at the Coldwater Burger King left a 46-year-old local resident hospitalized with multiple head injuries and a coworker facing a serious felony charge. Police say the 22-year-old Coldwater man allegedly struck the victim with a phone and bit his face, with the incident captured on a customer's cellphone video and now in the hands of Branch County prosecutors.
4. Troy Link Memorial Truck Show raises scholarships for truckers (bnd.com) — Coldwater's Branch County Fairgrounds recently hosted the Troy Link Memorial Truck Show, drawing regional truckers to raise scholarship funds for future drivers. With local driver Mark Rosenau participating and a $5,000 scholarship awarded, organizers say they plan to return next September to keep honoring Link's legacy and supporting trucking careers.
