1 Arrested In Early Morning Dearborn Shooting: Police

Police believe the shooting was accidental and there's no further threat to the public.

DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn Police on Thursday said they have arrested a suspect for connection to a Thursday morning shooting at an apartment complex in Dearborn.

Police said they responded to a residence in the Georgetown Commons condominium complex, located near Michigan Ave and Schaefer at approximately 6:30 a.m. where they discovered a victim with a non-fatal gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, while the suspect was arrested without incident, police said.

Officers also said they recovered a weapon at the scene.

However, as the investigation continues, police said they believe this was an accidental shooting with no further threat to the public.

"We repeatedly hear of people being killed from the reckless handling of firearms," Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad said. "Thankfully, that was not the situation today."
