Amer, who hails from Houston, TX, leads a lineup of 12 local, national and international comedians. Showtimes both nights are 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the museum, located at 13624 Michigan Ave.
Amer, who has been performing stand-up comedy since he was a teenager, has performed in more than two dozen countries on five continents. He was the first and only Arab-American refugee comic to perform for U.S. and coalition trips overseas with his “Allah Made Me Funny – The Official Muslim Comedy Tour.”

Most of the comedians are of Arab descent. Amer told WWJ he hopes comedy will help unify people.
“What we’re trying to do here with the festival is to introduce people to our culture, introduce it to stand-up comedy,” he said. “And if people just do stand-up, it’s not necessarily just going to be an Arab thing, it just happens to be a lot of Arab comics on the bill.”
The complete lineup is found here. Tickets are $20 for the general public and $18 for museum members. Tickets are available at the door or online.
