2 Charged In Shooting That Killed Well-Known Dearborn Florist​

DEARBORN, MI — Two people were charged in a Dearborn shooting that left a well-known florist dead Tuesday.

Lindsay Thurmond and Quenton Goston were each charged with premeditated first-degree murder, felony murder and homicide. Goston was also charged with a fourth offense habitual offender, while Thurmond was also charged with a third offense habitual offender.

Both Thurmond and Goston were both placed in jail without bond. Their next court date was scheduled for Friday, Sept. 29.

Police said Hassan Salame, owner of Lama's Florist in Dearborn, was walking to his car with another person outside a restaurant near Ford Road and Greenfield on Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. when he was ambushed by two people and shot.

Salame was taken to Corewell Hospital, where he died, police said.

The second person was not injured in the shooting, police said.

Police believe the shooting was a random act. Police did not release any additional details about the suspected shooters.

Dearborn Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud said Salame was a well-known florist and beloved community member.

"This tragic event has shaken our community to its core. Dearborn is more than a collection of neighborhoods; when tragedy strikes one of us, it impacts all of us," Hammoud said. "As we mourn the devastating loss of beloved community member Hassan Salame, I share my deepest condolences with his family and friends who are grappling with unimaginable pain. No resource will be spared in bringing the perpetrators to justice."
