2 Gang Members Indicted in Double Murder
December shooting killed two, including a 13-year-old, and seriously injured two other children, ages 13 and 7.

Detroit, MI — Two members of Detroit’s 6 Mile Chedda Grove street gang have been indicted and arrested on multiple charges in connection with the December 2015 shooting that killed the 21-year-old driver of a vehicle and a 13-year-old passenger, and seriously injured two other children, authorities said
The arrests announced Wednesday by U.S. Attorney Barbara L. McQuade came after an investigation by the Detroit One Initiative, a collaboration of local, state and federal law enforcement formed to track down on violent gang activity.
The indictment charges two defendants — Edwin Lamont “Edboy” Mills, 26, and Carlo Dajuan “Los” Wilson, 22, both of Detroit — for their alleged involvement in a shooting on the afternoon of Dec, 1, 2015, near a market on Hayes Street on Detroit’s east side.

The indictment alleges that Mills and Wilson not only killed the driver and a passenger of a vehicle in the parking lot, but also that they “assaulted two other victims, ages 13 and 7 with their guns causing serious injury.”
The government alleges the 6 Mile Chedda Grove is a violent street gang that operates primarily on Detroit’s east side, but said members have been linked to murders, assaults, robberies and firearms and narcotics trafficking in the Detroit metropolitan area and in other states.

Gang members use violence to retaliate against rivals, to intimidate witnesses and to advance members’ positions within the gang, federal authorities said.
Authorities blasted the two defendants for their alleged lack of regard for the well-being of children who would be caught in the line of gang fire.
“This shooting, which occurred during broad daylight, killed a 13-year-old girl and 21-year-old man, and seriously injured two other children,” McQuade said in a statement. “The utter disregard for human life, including the lives of children, is simply unacceptable, and the Detroit One partners are committed to doing all that we can to end this epidemic of violence against our children.”
Added David P. Gelios, special agent in charge of the FBI’s Detroit Division:“These individuals had no regard for the welfare of these children. Today's arrests demonstrate the continuing commitment of law enforcement to work together to make the neighborhoods in which we raise our children safer.”
Detroit Police Chief James Craig said the Detroit One partnership is curbing violent street crime, but more needs to be done.
“The children of Detroit deserve a safe city in which they may grow and thrive,” Craig said. “The Detroit One partnership is rooted in the belief that all citizens and neighborhoods deserve to be free of crime and our joint efforts to make that a reality will continue.”
The indictment is the latest in a string of cases from the United States Attorney’s Office and Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office during the last three years involving violent street gangs in the city of Detroit.
Detroit has seen a reduction in homicides every year since the Detroit One collaboration began in 2013. By working collaboratively, local, state and federal law enforcement investigate and prosecute individuals and groups initiating violence in Detroit.
Mills and Wilson were identified in an investigation led by the FBI’s Violent Gang Task Force and the Detroit Police Gang Intelligence Unit. The Task Force includes representatives of the Detroit Police Department, Michigan Department of Corrections, and the U.S. Border Patrol.
