3 Face Multiple Felonies in Charity Poker Event Robbery

Three masked gunmen ordered poker players at Momo's Poker Room to lay face down on the floor and robbed them, authorities say.

TAYLOR, MI – Three men face armed robbery and multiple felonious assault charges for allegedly robbing a packed poker room in Taylor at gunpoint earlier this month, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said.

Authorities say the three masked men entered Momo’s Poker Room, 5841 Telegraph Road, about 1 a.m. on April 1, announced the robbery and ordered everyone in the room to lay face down on the floor. A charity poker event was taking place at the time.

No shots were fired and no one was injured. Worthy, who announced the charges n a news release Thursday, did not say how much money was stolen.

Each of the three defendants — Nickolas Johnathan Frederick, 30, of Dearborn Heights; Michael Eugene Pennington, 26, of Flat Rock; and Daniel William Frederick, 29, of Dearborn Heights — is charged with three counts of armed robbery and 25 counts of felonious assault.

Pennington’s bond was set at $500,000 cash/10 percent surety by 23rd District Court Judge Michael D. Slaven during his arraignment Wednesday.

Daniel Frederick faces additional charges of felon in possession of a firearm and felony firearm. Slaven set his bond was set at $600,000 cash/10 percent surety. He also has a probable cause conference and preliminary exam before Slaven on April 18 and April 25, respectively.

Bond was set at $400,000 cash/10 percent surety foe Nickolas Frederick, who was arraigned Thursday morning. In addition to the armed robbery and felonious assault charges, he was charged with felony firearm, Worthy said.

The co-defendants' probable cause conference is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. April 18, and their preliminary exam is 8:30 a.m. April 25, both in Slaven’s court.
