The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Rochester Hill bids farewell to Imam Yahya Luqman and Welcomes Imam Shamshad Nasir

On October 22, 2017, Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Rochester Hills, Michiagn held a brief program in appreciation of the services of the outgoing Imam Yahya Luqman to Ahmadiyya Muslim Community's Detroit Chapter and the Mid-West regions during his three years stay in the mid-west region.
The program started with recitation of the Holy Quran by Areez Ahmad. Dr. Mansoor Qureshi, President of the local chapter then gave brief overview and introduction of how the community system works regarding missionaries and their transfers to other regions every three to five years as part of normal community operations.
He also described the dedication and sacrifices the missionaries go through to serve the community and encouraged community members to be appreciative of the sacrifices of the missionaries and benefit from thier presence.

President Qureshi then presented brief synopsis of the contributions of the Imam Yahya Luqman’s services to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Detroit in particular and the mid-west region in general.
Later, Outreach Director Muhammad Ahmad, enumerated the initiatives that Imam Yahya Luqman led and played a key role in their completion. He recounted the personal dedication and hard work of Imam in the completion of these initiatives that included establishment of the library, initiation of the monthly Al-Taqwa magazine mailing to the local Arab community along with his very active role in the interfaith communities of Metro Detroit. He also mentioned the keen interest Imam Yahya Luqman took in the Coffee, Cake and True Islam initiative.

Many guests were in attendance for the program. Ed Chezick from the Jewish congregation of Shir Tikvah appreciated Imam Yahya Luqman’s services and his friendship and involvement in the interfaith community and numerous events he led for Q/A. Later another guest, Izzy described Imam’s candor in responding to very tough questions from audience with great calm and humility during many of the interfaith events over the last many years.

Imam Yahya Luqman was then presented with an appreciation plaque for his services which was followed by welcoming of the Imam Shamshad Nasir to the Detroit Area.

At the end, incoming Imam Shamshad Nasir thanked the outgoing Imam and requested community's support in populating the mosque, outreach activities and other community related activities. The program was concluded with silent prayers led by Imam Shamshad Nasir.
