DEARBORN HEIGHTS, MI — A Dearborn Heights man was arrested after trying to meet up with an individual whom he believed was a 13-year-old Oakland County girl, according to sheriff's officials.
Bradley Kyle Martin, 60, was charged with one count of using a computer/internet to commit a crime (10-year felony) and one count of accosting a child for immoral purposes (four-year felony).
He was placed in jail with a $75,000 bond.
Officials said Martin tried to meet the girl, whom he believed was a juvenile living in Highland Township.
He was actually messaging a decoy account created by a Michigan-based, citizen-led group to help law enforcement catch child predators, WDIV reported.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael J. Bouchard encouraged anyone who encounters suspected child exploitation or online predatory behavior to report it immediately to law enforcement.
"We have zero tolerance for predators of children" Bouchard said. "Anyone that has information about a person targeting a child should contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately in such situations. We will investigate and prosecute individuals involved in predatory activity to the fullest extent of the law."
