Join us for a Community Meet and Greet and Author Talk featuring Joel Walkowski, author of "Honolulu Blues: How Loving A Losing Football Team Created A Winning Man," on July 23,2026 from 6:00-7:30 pm. It will be held at the Christ Episcopal Church Meeting Center located at 120 N. Cherry Hill, Dearborn MI 48124. This acclaimed comedic play-by-play of Detroit Lions lore explores deep themes of generational trauma and mental illness.

Born in Dearborn, attended Dearborn High, Joel is a writer, a nationally touring comedian, and a New York City basketball legend. In addition, he runs a SMART recovery meeting at a Phoenix House in Brooklyn NY and has a nonprofit, the “Big Walkowski,” that supports organ donations, funded by his annual basketball tournament.
