DEARBORN, MI — Dearborn's Homecoming Festival kicks off Friday with several new safety measures in place for the weekend's festivities.
Officials will implement a 4 p.m. curfew for children under 18 without a parent or guardian. The curfew only applies to minors inside the festival grounds. A seperate 9 p.m. curfew will be in place for outside the festival.
Additionally, officials will search bags upon entry into the festival from Cherry Hill, Brady Street and Monroe.
The free event, which runs through Sunday, will feature live music, carnival rides and food and beverages. There will also be an arts district with free crafts and live painters, a vendor village and various other activities.
Music headliners include country icon Martina McBride on Saturday and Grammy award-winning hip-hop artist Chance the Rapper on Sunday. Those performances will be followed by a fireworks show at roughly 10 p.m.
Other musical guests include country chart-topper Alexandra Kay and former "The Voice" finalist Laith Al-Saadi, as well as regional and local talents including Curtis Roach and Aint Afraid.
