📰 News we're reading

• American Arab Chamber fires its leader, cites missing funds (detroitnews.com) — A Dearborn-based business group has fired its executive director after discovering unaccounted-for funds and has turned the matter over to Dearborn police, state authorities, and the FBI. Investigators are scrutinizing roughly $1 million tied to Michigan Economic Development Corp. grants meant for the chamber's Tejara business incubator, raising serious questions about oversight of millions in small-business support dollars connected to Dearborn's economy.

• Racist flyers found in nearby communities after anti-Muslim protests (detroitnews.com) — After a large anti-Muslim protest in Dearborn, racist flyers promoting white supremacist groups, including the Ku Klux Klan, were found on residential streets in nearby Dearborn Heights and Melvindale. Local officials and CAIR-Michigan condemn the materials, which appeared to target Muslim neighborhoods, and residents are urged to report any information to their local police departments as investigations continue.

• Ford Factory Tour in 1948 Shaped Disneyland's Automated Ride Systems (wrif.com) — Dearborn's Ford River Rouge complex plays a surprising starring role in theme-park history, with Walt Disney's 1948 tour of the plant inspiring the automated ride systems later used at Disneyland. The article traces how Dearborn's assembly-line technology helped shape classic attractions like Peter Pan's Flight and other early dark rides.
