Man Charged In Fatal Dearborn Beating Between Family Members: Police

DEARBORN, MI — A Dearborn man is facing charges in connection with a family fight that left another man dead last week, according to police.

The incident happened at 7:46 p.m. last Wednesday at a home in the 6500 block of Theisen Street in Dearborn, according to police.

Officers arrived and found a 64-year-old man suffering from injuries following a family fight, according to police.

He was taken to a nearby hospital where he later died, according to police.

Mohammed Rustom, 43, was charged with one count of assault with intent to murder and one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

However, since the victim died, police are awaiting updated charges from the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.

He was placed in jail with a $500,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for Sept. 2.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the victim's family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time," Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said. "Our investigators will continue working closely with the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office to ensure the individual responsible is held accountable through the justice system."
