• Two more Metro Detroit communities move to amend data center zoning (detroitnews.com) — Dearborn's City Council has tightened its zoning rules so large data centers are no longer allowed by right in light industrial or tech districts, limiting them to general industrial areas. As other Metro Detroit communities, including Livonia, reconsider their own rules, Dearborn leaders say they're trying to prevent massive, noisy hyperscale facilities from popping up near homes and businesses.
   

• Nominees sought for CEW+ Inspire Awards - Center for the Education of Women+ (umich.edu) — Faculty, staff, and students connected to the University of Michigan–Dearborn can be nominated for CEW+ Inspire Awards honoring leaders who advanced equity and women's status across all three U-M campuses. The awards, each worth $1,000, recognize sustained work on gender and social equity, human rights in higher education, and mentoring. Nominations are due Oct. 26, with recipients honored in February 2027.
