Iconic Dearborn Bakery Closing Down After 53 Years

The owners announced they are retiring.

DEARBORN, MI — Capri Italian Bakery in Dearborn is closing down for good after 53 years.

Owners John and Ronda Errigo announced they are retiring, meaning the bakery's final day will be Oct. 31.

"It is with sadness and gladness that we have come to the end of an era," the Errigos said in a statement. "The love and thankfulness we have for our customers and our employees is indescribable."

The Errigos asked customers to share memories of the bakery on its Facebook page, where they can also check for updates until the bakery's final day.

Capri is best known for their signature pepperoni rolls, meatball subs and pizza. The bakery also sells sweets, such as focaccia, cannoli and Italian cookies.

Through the end of the month, the bakery, which is located along Greenfield Road, will be open 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Mon., 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Tues.-Fri. and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Sat.
